The Association Center of Studies and Programs for Social Services Development – ASCENDENT (The ASCENDENT Association) ABOUT USThe Association Center of Studies and Programs for Social Services Development – ASCENDENT (The ASCENDENT Association) is a non-governmental and non profit organization founded in 2000. In 2002, the ASCENDENT Association opened its first Day Center for school children located in 1 Decembrie, Ilfov. A second Day Center was opened in 2007 in the Copaceni, Ilfov area. The third ASCENDENT Educational Center was released in February 2009, in Jilava, Ilfov.The three educational centers work after a similar methodology based on the concept of learning by playing.In 2009, we developed “The Sunday School” project which grants scholarships to students. Scholarships for students
Starting with October 2008, the ASCENDENT Association offers scholarships for middle school or high school students from Bucharest, 1 December, Jilava and Copaceni - Ilfov County and Adunatii Copaceni - Giurgiu County). Students with good results (overall average over 9), but with a poor social situation are eligible for this program. The project is unique because all the scholars will be engaged in weekly volunteering activities and they will help the other children in our day centers. The purpose of this project is to help scholarship students become role models to other children, but also to promote The “Sunday School”
The “Sunday School”
The Center for life skills development, the "Sunday School" is the place where children with good school performances, but with a poor social situation, design projects, put ideas into practice and use their energy to help other children in the community. The "Sunday School” - is a social service which is recognized by The Ministry of Labor, Family and Social Protection. |

 The Day Center for school children from 1 Decembrie, Ilfov County
Every school year, the 1 Decembrie, Ilfov Day Center for school children offers educational activities grouped in creative occupational workshops (the theatre workshop, the painting workshop, the decoration workshop). The number and characteristics of the workshops are different each year, depending on the available resources and on the requirements of the children. Similarly, the School support service (where children are being helped to recover gaps in several school subjects) is held regularly according to the requests of parents and teachers.

 The ASCENDENT Association offers Scholarships for students with good school results
Within this project, The ASCENDENT Association offers scholarships (200 Ron / month) for Middle School and High School students from 1 Decembrie and Copaceni, Ilfov County. Children having good school results, but poor social situations are eligible for this program. The project is unique because all the scholars are engaged in weekly volunteering activities in our 1 Decembrie Day Center. Scholars offer support to other children: charitable aid, school tutoring, environmental education activities.

 "Education through solidarity" – The ASCENDENT Association's mentoring program (Ilfov County and Giurgiu County)
The ASCENDENT Association extended its student scholarships program to the Ilfov and Giurgiu Counties by implementing the "Education through solidarity" program which is financed by the Soros Foundation Romania. The Educational Center for school children, Copaceni, Ilfov
In 2007, ASCENDENT built its own center in Copaceni, Ilfov County. 40 children are assisted each year within this educational center.
